Glenorchy
Overview
Forty five kilometres from Queenstown, resting on the northern end of Lake Wakatipu, is the historic town of Glenorchy. With a population of just over 200 people, Glenorchy is the gateway to some of the finest tramping and scenery in the world. General stores, pubs and cafes (including the legendary Glenorchy Café), and a petrol station provide essential services to residents, holiday makers and surrounding landowners. You’ll find old and new homes in this small rustic frontier town offering views of the lake and mountains including Mt. Earnslaw, the Humbolts and the Richardsons. With many recreational activities on your doorstep, from fishing and jet boating through to tramping and hunting, Glenorchy is a playground for all outdoor enthusiasts.
